Sunlight discipline decides most runs. The first waves are cheap to hold, so it is tempting to fill the board early, but a full board with no sunlight bank collapses the moment a heavy wave lands. A common rhythm: keep two or three open spots through the mid game, spend on upgrades instead of new plants, and only commit the last spots once you can see what the final waves are made of.
